[March 29, 2019] Boyaa Interactive International Limited (“Boyaa Interactive” or the “Company”, together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”, stock code: 0434), a leading online card and board game developer and operator in China, today announced its audited consolidated results for the year ended 31 December 2018 (the “Reporting Period”).
For the year ended December 31, 2018, the Group recorded a revenue of approximately RMB 453.2 million, representing a decrease of approximately 38.4% compared to that of the year 2017, which was RMB 735.6 million. The gross profit of the Group for the whole year of 2018 was approximately RMB 305.0 million, and the profit attributable to owners was approximately RMB 201.5 million. Thanks to the continued implementation of the cost and expense control policy, which , the Group's unaudited non-IFRS adjusted net profit during the reporting period was approximately RMB 204.8 million, and the 2018 net profit margin was approximately 44.5%, representing a year-on-year increase of 11.4 percentage points; the gross profit margin was 67.3%, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percentage points.
The Group's year-on-year decrease in revenue for the whole year of 2018 was mainly due to the impact of the Apple incident in the second quarter of 2017, the impact of policy risk factors in the second quarter of 2018, and the decline in revenue generated by web-based games due to the gradual shift of web-based games to the mobile games along with the industry trend.
The board of directors proposed to pay a one-time special dividend of approximately HK$ 0.276 per share.
The board of directors of the Group proposed to pay a one-time special dividend of approximately HK$ 200 million (equivalent to RMB 171 million) at HK$ 0.276 (equivalent to RMB 0.237) per share for approval by the shareholders of the Company at the annual general meeting (the “Annual General Meeting”).
The ARPPU of web-based Texas Hold’em games and the ARPPU of other card and board mobile games increased slightly.
From the operational data, the number of paying players and users in the fourth quarter of 2018 decreased compared with that of the fourth quarter of 2017. There were about 0.5 million paying players in the fourth quarter of 2018. In the fourth quarter of 2018, the number of daily active users was 2.9 million, and the number of monthly active users was approximately 10.5 million. However, the ARPPU of web-based Texas Hold’em games and the ARPPU of other card and board mobile games increased slightly.
The Group will actively explore overseas card and board game operation modes, focus on product research and development and innovation, and strengthen efforts to develop overseas markets and other card and board game businesses.
In terms of game products, we had a total of 79 online game product portfolios in 17 languages as of December 31, 2018. In 2018, we still focused on product research and development and innovation, the enrichment of game varieties and the optimization of user experience. We continued to strengthen the refinement and diversified operation of our products to improve the quality of our games.
Looking into the future, the Group will continue to explore the operation modes of domestic and overseas card and board games in depth and intensify its efforts to develop overseas card and board game markets. At the same time, the Group will focus on the research and development and innovation of mobile products, intensify efforts to expand other card and board game businesses, and continuously enrich the content and playing methods of games. The Group will also continue to improve infrastructure and game functions, focus on user experience and provide better services.
